A disappointing result for Waltham this week going down 1 nil away to Ludwig Leisure.
1st Half:
Playing into a strong sun in the first half Waltham started off brightly putting together some tidy moves down their right hand side with Nathan Hunt and James Blanchard looking sharp and causing Ludwig a few problems. And Waltham could have went in front after some strong play from Martin West but unfortunately the big man could not finish. Ludwig then lifted their game and piled some pressure on the Waltham defence but the back four stood strong with Hodder, Cooper and Leather all winning the high balls and Faulkner collecting anything that made its way through. Waltham also looked dangerous down their right with Paul Hodder and Robbie Goddard linking up well.
HT: 0 – 0
2nd Half:
The second half started off with Ludwig putting the Waltham defence under immediate pressure but they failed to make anything of their chances. And it was Waltham who almost broke the deadlock when Nathan Hunt controlled from Faulkner’s long ball and crossed to Richard Parrett whose shot was deflected onto the crossbar. However shortly afterwards Ludwig took the lead when Cooper failed to clear the ball and it was placed into the top corner by a Ludwig player. Waltham then lifted their game and put Ludwig under pressure for long spells however they didn’t use the ball in the best of ways and failed to create any clear cut chances for their strikers Darren Knox and Hassan Falah. Waltham also had a series of corners and free kicks but again failed to exert any serious pressure on the Ludwig defence and goalkeeper.
