Bishops Waltham got back to winning ways today with a hard fought victory away to Hamble Club after a series of heavy defeats.
1st Half:
The game began brightly for Waltham as they put together a series of well worked moves creating a couple chances which they really should have made more of. And they could have been punished more than once as Hamble’s forwards broke clear but very alert goalkeeping from Adam Faulkner snuffed out the threat. As half time approached it was Hamble who were in the ascendancy and could again have gone in at the half time interval in front.
HT: 0 – 0
2nd Half:
Bishops Waltham took the lead early in the 2nd half when Ashley Baddams latched onto a great through ball from Robbie Goddard. Confusion then ensued as the Hamble defence and goalkeeper made a mess of the clearance and Baddams was the coolest man on the pitch as he rounded the keeper and finished into the empty net. Waltham then should have gone 2 up when Mark Bailey shot wide from 12 yards out. And 10 minutes later Bailey was again guilty of missing from inside the box. And Waltham were almost made to pay for their missed chances as Hamble mounted on the pressure but the defence stood strong along with some more inspired goalkeeping from Faulkner. Shortly after Baddams broke clear again and should really have done better as he lobbed wide from a good position. Time finally ran out for Hamble and it was Waltham who came away with a great away victory much to the delight of their new manager Colin Plumoff.
